Your visit

What should you expect at your first physical therapy visit?

During your first visit, your therapist will review when you began feeling pain, how the injury occurred, your general health, any past surgeries, and your goals. We will then conduct an initial evaluation to identify any postural faults and musculoskeletal imbalances, including tests for muscle length and strength, joint mobility, and soft tissue integrity.

Following the evaluation, a personalized treatment plan will be developed to meet your specific needs and goals. Additionally, an at-home exercise program with exercises to support the recovery process will be created. Your physical therapist will explain each exercise, ensuring you understand the proper technique.

How frequently will you attend physical therapy?

Most prescriptions and treatment schedules recommend 2-3 visits per week, but this will vary based on your condition and physical ability.

Physical therapy sessions typically last one hour, and treatment plans can range from 6 to 12 weeks. This includes periodic re-evaluations and regular follow-up visits with your doctor.

Telehealth

Telehealth physical and occupational therapy is used to provide treatment virtually rather than in-person. Spear live, our telehealth therapy, utilizes online audio and video, similar to FaceTime. This approach allows the patient and the therapist to be in separate locations while still conducting a session.
