Physical Therapist - PT, DPT

Michaela Chee, PT, DPT

Penn Plaza - 7th Ave

Michaela’s passion for physical therapy is rooted in her martial arts experience, where she was taught “motion creates emotion”. She firmly believes that the path to functional health is often linked to emotional well-being, and keeps this in mind for her treatments today.

From high school, Michaela was accepted into New York Institute of Technology’s accelerated program where she earned both her Bachelor’s of Life Sciences and Doctorate of Physical Therapy degrees in five years.

Michaela was initially interested in solely orthopedic disorders and sports-related injuries, such as joint replacements and ligament and tendon repairs. However, her clinical rotations helped her expand her knowledge of pediatric, geriatric, and especially neurological rehabilitations. She created tailored, patient-centered approaches for a large array of diagnoses, including stroke, cerebral palsy, herniated discs, and spina bifida. Michaela was also an avid volunteer for the Rock Steady Boxing organization, which further deepened her appreciation for treating neurological disorders – namely Parkinson’s disease.

While Michaela was an instructor and second-degree black belt in karate, she now enjoys learning Muay Thai and kickboxing. On calmer days, she likes to practice yoga and has even tried a variant with baby goats! In her spare time, she loves to rock climb with her friends and roam around art galleries (she dabbles in some artmaking herself)!
